Student Resource Officers

In an effort to provide Tomball Independent School District (T.I.S.D.) Students’ with a safe and secure learning environment, T.I.S.D., in partnership with the Tomball Police Department, implemented the School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) Position.
The S.R.O. enforces federal, state and local laws on T.I.S.D. property. The S.R.O. acts as a liaison between T.I.S.D. and City of Tomball Public Service Agencies, ensuring an open line of communication and fostering a cooperative spirit.

Annually, hundreds of students are instructed in tobacco awareness. Instruction in safety, including bicycle, holiday, etc., is routinely provided to Tomball’s youth. The S.R.O., through implementation of salient programs, provides parents with the opportunity to be involved and active in issues concerning the safety and welfare of their children. A fingerprint program, offered to young children, is currently in the design phase. In addition to instructing students, the S.R.O. provides numerous hours of instruction to district faculty and administration.

While enforcement and instruction are fundamental duties of the S.R.O., the ability to connect with students on a personal level, via after school programs, are instrumental in developing both the S.R.O. and individual student’s leadership and growth potential. The Tomball Police After School Special Program (TPASS) was created to allow at-risk students, identified with the cooperation of individual campus personnel, the opportunity to utilize their time in a healthy environment. Activities are peer driven and result in the student’s ability to assert and develop his or her unique characteristics and leadership abilities.

With our dynamic society, the S.R.O. has become a stabilizing factor in the educational and personal lives of the students, staff, faculty and administration of the Tomball Independent School District.
